EX-VOTO TO SAN BENITO PAINTED ON TIN WITH THE FOLLOWING LEGEND:

A Florencio Dominguez se le pasó la mano de mezcales y se puso tan borracho que se quedó dormido en el monte, pero como a la medianoche lo despertaron unos lamentos y vió aterrado que frente a él estaba "La Llorona". Le agradece infinitamente a San Benito Abad con este humilde retablito porque pudo salir corriendo sano y salvo de ahí y promete ya nunca más volver a beber. Tepoztlán, Morelos. México.

Florencio Dominguez overindulged in mezcal and got so drunk that he fell asleep out in the wilds; around midnight, however, he was awakened by wailing sounds and saw, to his terror, that "La Llorona" was standing right in front of him. He offers infinite thanks to Saint Benedict the Abbot with this humble *retablo* for allowing him to escape safe and sound, and he vows never to drink again. Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico.
