Dedico el presente exvoto a San Judas Tadeo agradeciéndole por el gran talento de la pintora mexicana Frida Kahlo. Soy un admirador de todas sus obras, pero una de mis favoritas es "Autorretrato con collar de espinas y colibrí", que pintó en 1940. México.

Estaba trabajando limpiando las tumbas en la madrugada del 1ero. de Noviembre llevándome el gran susto de mi vida al ver con mis propios ojos como un difuntito abrió la cada de su ataúd queriéndose salir. Le recé en ese momento a San Miguelito Arcángel que me protegiera mientras me iba corriendo a mi jacalito y no me pasó nada, por lo que le doy las infinitas gracias y le pido de todo corazón ya no volver a vivir esa experiencia. I was working cleaning the graves in the early morning of November 1st when I got the fright of my life. I saw with my own eyes a deceased person open the door of their coffin, trying to get out. I prayed to Saint Michael the Archangel to protect me as I ran back to my shack, and nothing happened to me. A Florencio Dominguez se le pasó la mano de mezcales y se puso tan borracho que se quedó dormido en el monte, pero como a la medianoche, lo despertaron unos lamentos y vió aterrado que frente a él estaba "La Llorona". Le agradece infinitamente a San Benito Abad con este humilde retablito porque pudo salir corriendo sano y salvo de ahí y promete ya nunca más volver a beber. Tepoztlán, Morelos. México.

Florencio Dominguez drank too much mezcal and got so drunk that he fell asleep in the woods. Around midnight, he was awakened by wailing and, terrified, saw "La Llorona" standing before him. Cuando fuí a casa de mis tios a partir la rosca de reyes el 6 de enero sentí, al darle la mordida a mi pedazo de rosca, el muñequito y, para no pagar los tamales el día de la Canderia, porque somos muchos en mi familia, quise esconderlo dentro de mi boca pero ya me estaba ahogando. Le agradezco al Santo Niño de Atocha de que mi tío Pepe sabe de primeros auxilios y me salvó la vida y prometo ya no hacer esas cosas y pagar los tamales cuando me salga el muñequito. Puebla, México.

When I went to my aunt and uncle's house to cut the Three Kings' Day cake on January 6th, I felt the little figurine in my slice as I took a bite. To avoid paying for tamales on Candlemas Day (since there are so many of us in my family), I tried to hide it in my mouth, but I was already choking. I thank the Holy Child of Atocha that my Uncle Pepe knows first aid and saved my life. I promise not to do things like that again and to pay for the tamales when I find the figurine. Puebla, Mexico.
